I have just returned from the monastery at Inle Lake and happy to report on the ongoing projects as follows:
The Inle Trust Opera with Joseph Calleja & Guests
Thank you for your support for a most successful fundraiser of the Joseph Calleja Opera at the V & A in June 2017. So much more progress is being made at the Phaya Taung monastery school & orphanage as a result of the funds raised and the contacts made from the event.

Ko Yin Mineral Water

I am pleased to report that Ko Yin Mineral Water has received approval from the Deapartment of Foods & Drug Administration, Myanmar reg. no. Sa1/171018/Hta La. This means that we are able to sell the water throughout Myanmar. We have further improved the quality & shelf life of the water by introducing an additional process of Ozone treatment.
We have also rebranded the product with a new style bottle and label.

New Project- School House & Teacher’s Training Centre
We are excited to start a most amazing new educational project.
There are many reasons why the children’s school pass rate at the monastery and in the Inle Lake area is grossly below the average. The main reason is that most senior school exam papers are in English and neither the teachers nor the children understand or speak English properly. Nor are the teachers properly trained in teaching methods. So in spite of the hard work and study by the children they continue to fail at the final hurdle- the matriculation exams.
We believe we have the perfect solution…….in partnership with Sameena Foundation we are building a new school house and Teacher’s training centre. We are hopeful that through Shirish Saraf’s (Samena Capital Vice Chairman) connection Charterhouse School will provide the teaching facility.
This program is not only to benefit the monastery school but will be open to all school teachers in the Lake Inle area and further a field in due course.
It is hoped that this will become a model teaching Centre for others to follow.
