Work on the Education Centre building at Phaya Taung monastery, Inle Lake has progressed substantially and the building is expected to be completed by the end of July.
This project has been jointly financed by The Inle Trust (from the funds raised at the Joseph Calleja Opera last May in London- many thanks Joseph & guests) and The Samena Foundation (thanks to my friend Shirish Saraf)
The Education centre will comprise a school house for some 300 grade 10 children and will also house a Teachers Training centre and accommodation for visiting teachers. Charterhouse School of the United Kingdom will provide the educational training to the teachers. We are expecting the first pilot teachers training program to commence in early August.
The purpose of letting you – our Phaya Taung dream team – know is that you are most welcome to attend the opening on 30th July and to give you all sufficient time to make the necessary arrangements.
Finally, I would like to say that we have made spectacular progress with the building works (see attached) for which I would like to thank the honorary building team for their amazing architectural & logistical achievement- thank you Tin Kyi Hlaing, Perry Moe, Thant Zin Oo, Than Win Nyunt and team.
